Day 5: Visit to Doughnut Plant

In Best Doughnuts in NYC, NYC, things to do in NYC on June 5, 2009 at 11:17 pm

Over on Grand Street on the Lower East Side, at the end of a strip of shops is Doughnut Plant, home of New York City’s (and maybe the world’s) most amazing doughnut. Inside the shop which is fittingly about the size of a Manhattan studio apartment, windows look into the doughnut factory that turns out dozens upon dozens of its giant-size confections each day. With glazed varieties including fresh raspberry, vanilla bean and toasted almond and cake doughnuts in flavors like tres leches, carrot cake and blackout – chocolate with pudding filling, Doughnut Plant’s doughnuts beat the pants of its chain-store competitors. It doesn’t have to be National Doughnut Day to make a visit. All you need is a taste for something delectable. So take a walk over and allow yourself the indulgence!
