In NYC, NYC for free, Summer 2009, things to do in NYC on June 6, 2009 at 7:30 pm

Having visited McCarren Park today for the 5th Annual Renegade Craft Fair, it’s not easy to figure out what was more entertaining—the 250+ craft booths or the zillions of Brooklynites with their hippy-hipster-funk summertime ensembles, bejeweled, bedazzled, be-hipped. If you’ve ever visited Esty, you’d agree, this was Etsy, live and in person. With artists and creators from all across the country showcasing their goods from hand-carved wood crafts to t-shirts screen-printed with whip-smart quotes to fake-mustache-on-a-sticks, recycled metal jewelry, and handbags in themes from cute, furry animals to quasi-70s prints, there was plenty here in the way of friendly, green, modern yet kitschy-fun design to stock up on.

Through Sunday, June 7.
