Day 13: Union Square Greenmarket

In NYC, NYC Greenmarkets, things to do in NYC, Uncategorized on June 13, 2009 at 8:56 pm

Never mind the construction barricades that block  much of the east side of Union Square; once you step inside the rambling Greenmarket, you won’t even notice them. And in the between the tents of not only greens, but reds, oranges, yellows, and pinks too, you might even forget you’re in the city. With nearly 200 vendors, you can find everything from produce, meats and dairy products, to bread, wine and flowers– all farm fresh. Aside from the sheer beauty of the market, by shopping it, you’re also doing good– for local farms and for the environment, preserving farmland and conserving energy. So whether you’re making dinner at home or just want to pick up a few things for an afternoon picnic in the park, grab you’re canvas sac and head on over. Open M,W,F and Sat 8am-6pm year-round.
